What is
The Wild Schools Project?
The Wild Schools Project, started as a conversation about the declining number of students attending residential outdoor education. For some it was the financial burden, others geographical location and for many children a growing anxiety arround being away from home and their digital life.

Our project and now mission is simple, break down the barriers that stop students from accessing the outdoor education. As a mobile outdoor education centre we are able to come to you, use the environment close to you and in an area familiar to the students. Where financial barriers exist, we will help to support schools in finding funding for our programs and help develop confidence and resilience in students to get out and experiance their world on their terms

Freddie Cole
Hi, I’m Freddie. I’ve been working in outdoor education and coaching since 2016. This has been in a variety of roles, through youth work, guiding, and instructor training and development. From West coast America to the four corners of the UK. When I'm not at work I am normally found coaching and playing on the water in my canoe.
Interesting fact about me: My beard is big enough to double up as a pencil case.
Likes: White water and Adventure Canoeing, Fermenting and Wild cooking
Dislikes: Ketchup, Red Sauce and any other name it goes by.
Why the Wild Schools Project? My passion is development, and Outdoor Education is one of the best tools for it. So bringing it to everyone just makes sense.

Alex McHugh
Hi, I’m Alex. I’ve been an outdoor education instructor since 2005, which has taken me to some interesting parts of the world such as South America, New Zealand, the Middle East and numerous parts of Europe. In my spare time when I'm not out on adventures, I volunteer as a team member and Casualty Carer for Arrochar Mountain Rescue.
Interesting fact about me: My doppelganger is Orin from the hobbit series
Likes: Big Adventures in Wild Places, Chocolate and White Water Kayaking
Dislikes: Broccoli, Broccoli, and more Broccoli!
Why the Wild Schools Project? For me it’s bringing 20 years of experience and adventures to a new generation of Adventurers and watching new possibilities ignite in them.
